Epsilon Cable

Epsilon Advanced Conductors are a complete range of bare electrical conductors for overhead lines supplied by Epsilon Cable.

Theses conductors are based on a polymeric matrix carbon composite core and conductive layers of trapezoidal aluminum wires designed to improve ampacity and reduce electrical losses in transmission lines, for new projects or reconductoring operations.

The portfolio especially includes high capacity conductors (or advanced conductors, HTLS conductors) which use a thermally capable composite formulation for high temperature activities, and layers of 1350-O annealed aluminium (AL0, ASTM B609). These conductors have a continuous operating temperature of 180°C, and emergency thermal rating of 200°C. The WIR files posted here detail these products, segregated by frequency and unit systems (50Hz Metric system, and 60Hz US Customary system). HVCRC®/ECRC® are respective local brand names owned by Epsilon Cable for both sets of products.

Different exotic conductors formulation also exit, including for instance metallic alloys such AT1/AT3 aluminum (ASTM B941, IEC 62004) or usage of extra high strength grade of composite core. These products mostly aim at improving heavy loading sag capability or improving span length. If required, please contact manufacturer for more detail and support.

Revised August 2024: Contact Epsilon Cable for details.

All of the cable models that Power Line Systems has are accessible from within the software. If you do not find the cable you are looking for then you can contact the manufacturer and ask them for a cable file or create your own as described in section 9.2 of the PLS-CADD manual.

***Downloading of these wires and cables is facilitated in the software.***

FROM THE MANUFACTURER: Those WIR files are based on data from tests conducted by Epsilon Cable and/or independent laboratories, and provide what we believe to be the most accurate and reliable modeling for HVCRC® conductors. They may be periodically updated if relevant new data is available. Note that conductor behavior may change from one cable manufacturer to another due to differences in raw materials and manufacturing processes. Therefore, we recommend to use the specific conductor manufacturer’s data for line designs.
